A Chinese Folktale
GRAMMAR REVIEW
Folktales are stories about traditions
of common people about (themselves,
themselves) , (their, thier) original
beliefs and practices have been handed
down by word of mouth from
generation to generation. Like the
Filipinos, the Chinese (has, have ) their
folktales which are rich in the local color
of their country.
IDIOM
egg head- adj. a very studious
and academic person.
Tagalog trans: matalino, mahilig
mag- aral.
VBA
 cogent /’ko-jent/ adjective
- very clear and easy for the mind to accept and
believe
Tagalog trans: kapani-paniwala
Syn:convincing, persuasive
Ant: ineffective, unpersuasive
 contravene /, kan- trƏ-ven/ verb
-to fail to do what is required by a law or rule
Tagalog trans: sumalungat
Syn: contradict, violate
Ant: follow, obey
 covet /’ke-vet/ verb
- To want something that you do not have very much
Tagalog trans: kagustuhan
Syn: want, crave, wish
Sentence: Kim is an egg head and a consistent
honor student in their class, he made a very cogent
plead to his parents to buy him a Nike shoes which
he have been coveting for sometime now. However
it’s an imitation which contravenes property rights.
So they bought him an original one.
