  uncertainties.

  – Distort the truth
  – Manipulate other people
  – Serve as tools in corrupt
    quests of power
• The sinister uses of words
  are represented by
  images of ears and
  hearing:
  – claudius’s murder of the
    king by pouring poison in his
    ear
