- 3. L E A R N I N G O B J E C T I V E S Create a mask to remove a subject from a background. Refine a mask to include complex edges. Create a quick mask to make changes to a selected area. Edit a mask using the Properties panel. Manipulate an image using Puppet Warp. Save a selection as an alpha channel. View a mask using the Channels panel. Load a channel as a selection. Isolate a channel to make specific image changes.

W o r k i n g w i t h M a s k s & C h a n n e l s T I P S & T R I C K S Quick Mask mode in the toolbar is like a selection marque Quick Mask mode disappears as soon as current selection is changed Alpha Channel is like a Quick Mask mode Must load Alpha Channel as selection for it to apply to layer Layer mask is type of alpha channel tied to specific layer- valuable compositing technique

- 10. C r e a t i n g Q u i c k M a s k s T I P S & T R I C K S Quick Masks are more forgiving than selection marquee If tools or commands aren't working, you might be working in Quick Mask mode If this happens, see if the Quick Mask icon is on or off
