What is Project Inshore?
   • Project Inshore is a tool to assess and feed into the management of
all English fisheries within IFCA districts.
   • Project consists of 3 stages,
     1. Fishery Analysis
     2. MSC Pre-Assessments
     3. Sustainability Reviews
   • It will use the globally recognised MSC pre-assessment process as an
independent assessment of what is happening on the ground.

   • The pre-assessments will then feed in to develop Sustainability
Reviews to feed into current management practices.

The aim…

                                    • To overcome the market barriers to
small scale fisheries engaging in the
                                      MSC process.

                                    • All inshore fisheries considered against a
                                      consistent framework of common
                                      criteria.

                                    • Develop sustainability reports enabling
                                      multi-track progress and harmonised
                                      approaches.

                                    • To recognise where management is
working and feed into areas which could
                                      be improved upon.

How we do this…

     • Bringing a range of partners together

     • Using an independently accredited Certification Bodies - FCI

     • Consisting of an expert team with experience in the 3 principles of the
        MSC

     • Using the pre-assessment process as a gap analysis of current inshore
        fisheries management.
