This document discusses how Atmos Energy, a natural gas distribution company, transferred its GIS data from AutoCAD format to GE Smallworld format. It used FME Workbench to clean the AutoCAD files, set up the necessary parameters for the different platforms, and run the transformation. This allowed Atmos Energy to consolidate its data in the new GE Smallworld system without losing any valuable information stored in AutoCAD. The process also worked in reverse to transform data from Smallworld format to AutoCAD.

- 3. Problem: In 2010 Atmos Energy decided to use GE Smallworld as a primary GIS data carrier. Existing data was in AutoCAD format Lines representing mains MTEXT used for description Different layers to describe main size The goal was to consolidate and transfer DATA to GE Smallworld without losing any valuable information.

- 5. Solution: To solve our problem we used FME Workbench Work process: Cleaning AutoCAD files (connectivity, correct layers)

- 7. Loading data to GE Smallworld Setting up parameters in Workbench: Setting correct coordinates Both platforms run on Citrix (setting correct TICS host and port:
- 8. Setting parameters in Smallworld (SW): Setting the import in SW (4.2 version used for this presentation) We need to make sure we are in writable mode
- 9. Run the FME Workbench: Check the outcome in SW: Important part of checking outcome is also checking for data in editor window in SW
- 10. Of course the same process work the other way and we are able to transform Smallworld objects to AutoCAD:
