  1) What is a project, and what are its main attributes?

A Project is a temporary, unique and progressive attempt or endeavor made to produce
some kind of a tangible or intangible result (a unique product, service, benefit,
competitive advantage, etc.). It includes a series of interrelated tasks that are planned for
execution over a fixed period of time and within certain requirements and limitations
such as cost, quality, performance, others. Project is a job that is done one time.

     Key Characteristics:
Temporary: Means that every project has a finite start and end. The start is the time
when the project is initiated and its concept is developed. The end is reached when all
objectives of the project have been met (or unmet if it’s obvious that the project cannot be
completed – then it is terminated).
Unique Deliverable(s): In the context of this key characteristic, any project aims to
produce some deliverable(s) which can be a product, service, or some another result.
Deliverables should address a problem or need analyzed before project start.
Progressive Elaboration: With the progress of a project, continuous investigation and
improvement become available, and all this allows producing more accurate and
comprehensive plans. This key characteristic means that the successive iterations of
planning processes result in developing more effective solutions to progress and develop
     projects.
In addition to being temporary and unique, other attributes of projects are:
      i. Has a unique purpose
     ii. Is temporary
iii. Is developed using progressive elaboration
iv. Requires resources, often from various areas
     v. Should have a primary customer or sponsor
    vi. Involves uncertainty

2) How is a project different from what most people do in their day-to-day jobs?

Day-to-day jobs are usually an ongoing process which there is no end, unless the
company or organization shuts down whereas projects have a definite beginning and a
definite end. The triple constraint is a set of limitations which apply to all projects
and include: Scope, Time, and Cost. All these are limitations which are constantly
changing and must be balanced depending on current situations.

3) What other factors affect a project?
       i. Incomplete requirements
      ii. Lack of user involvement
    iii. Lack of resources
     iv. Unrealistic expectations
      v. Lack of executive support
     vi. Changing requirements & specifications
    vii. Lack of planning
viii. Client no longer needs project
     ix. Lack of IT management
      x. Technological illiteracy
