Purpose of Materials • Sound filmstrips : used in phonics/ narration • Radio-vision programmes : as a visual support to enhance understanding of the commentaries made from the radio in a recorded form. • Tape-text programmes : assist in reading skill for students. • Board games : to instil thinking / problem solving skill using language

Strength and weaknesses +ve BOARD GAMES -ve Students are encouraged to reflect on their knowledge and draw together the various dimensions of their learning content Students fail to draw upon make optimum use of the knowledge they have been taught Encourage students to empathise with the position and feelings of others and to look beyond their immediate assumptions and expectations Teacher has to relinquish some control over the process and outcomes of learning
- 4. +ve SOUND FILMSTRIPS -ve Only sounds are projected which is useful to do a listening session. The device might not come in handy in nowadays technology. Can be use along with picture slide to make learning interesting Hard for teachers/learners to deal with because they need to get familiar with the concept of the material.
- 5. +ve TAPE-TEXT PROGRAM MES -ve Reinforce the concepts teacher is trying to communicate in words. Materials goes out of date quickly. Enhance students listening and reading skill while they are doing tape text programmes Students who do not acquire these two skills will left behind.
- 6. +ve RADIO- VISION PROGRAM MES -ve New interactive way of learning as the programmes will be focused about education. Requires good connection to be able to receive the programmes (Rural areas) A new way of education rather than chalk and talk style of education.
