Energy is the ability to cause change or make things move. There are seven main types of energy: chemical, light, heat, nuclear, mechanical, sound, and electrical. Kinetic energy is the energy of motion and depends on an object's mass and speed. The greater the mass or speed, the more kinetic energy an object possesses. Kinetic energy can be transferred between objects when they collide, such as when a rolling bowling ball knocks down pins through transferring its kinetic energy.
