This document discusses different types of testing methods. It describes objective tests which have short, factual answers that can be quickly scored versus subjective tests which are not strictly scored. Objective tests include multiple choice, true/false, and matching questions, while subjective tests involve essays, debates, and speaking. Tests can also be discrete, measuring individual skills, or integrated, measuring multiple related skills. When developing tests, they can directly measure specific skills or indirectly measure underlying abilities. Tests can also be norm-referenced, comparing students to each other, or criterion-referenced, comparing students to a set standard of achievement.
