Initial Node
An Activity Diagram Starts with an Initial Node. Only
one Initial Node is permissible in Activity Diagram
(Bulls Eye Shape)
Final Node
An Activity Diagram Ends with a Final Node. Several
Final Nodes are Permissible (Bulls Eye Surrounded
by a co-centric circle )
Flow Final Node
As Activities have several parallel flows one flow
may end while others continue.
(Circle with an X inside ) www.qbi.in
Activities
Activity Notation for an Activity is a rounded
           rectangle.

           Activity Partitions
           Activity Partitions divide an Activity
           Diagram in columns which display
Where and By Whom the Activities are
           being carried out
                                     www.qbi.in
Decision Node
A Decision Node is used for
Alternate flows

Merge Node
Alternate Flows Merge
through a Merge Node

Both Decision and Merge
Nodes have the notation of
that of a Diamond

Fork Node
Fork Node is utilized in Activity Diagrams
for depicting parallel flow

 Join Node
Merge Node is utilized in Activity Diagrams
 for depicting convergence parallel flows

    Fork & Join Node Together

ATM Machine Operation
           Step I
           You Insert the Card
Step II: You Provide the Pin / Password
Step III: If password is valid then you have to choose the
transaction
If password is invalid then you have to provide the
password again
If you provide wrong password more than three times card is blocked
Step IV : You carry out the transaction in case password is valid
Step V: You are asked for more transactions
Step VI: Remove the Card
Process is over

                                                                 www.qbi.in

Patient Visits a Diabetes Hospital
          Step I
Doctor Sees the Patient and studies Patient History
          Step II: Doctor Prescribes Lab-Test
Step III: Patient shows symptoms or no symptoms for disease
Step IV: For No Symptoms Process Ends
Step V: For Symptoms : Check BP, Classify Diabetic Type, Classify
Patient Work type
          Step VI: Prescribe Treatment
          Step 7 : Process Ends
