- 4. Collaboration • UniProt is produced by the UniProt Consortium(Association)- a collaboration between the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) the Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (SIB) Protein Information Resource (PIR). 4

What is the use of UniProt ? • Useful in finding protein sequence and functional information. • It contains a large amount of information about the biological function of proteins. • Useful for inferring evolutionary information. • We can also find out about the function of proteins by studying properties such as the biological processes they are involved in. their post-translational modifications their interaction with other molecules their location in cells and organisms 5
