- 1. ENGL 102-01 Summer 2019 Unit 4: Argument Remix This assignment asks you to remix your argument from Unit 3. Using your thesis statement as a starting point, you will work to create a brochure or infographic that touches on the key points of your argument. One important idea to keep in mind is that your audience may be different for this assignment than for your essay. Chapter 14 of Becoming Rhetorical outlines several different visual composition principles that will be helpful throughout this unit. In order to earn at least a B on this assignment, you must meet all of the following requirements: 1. You must clearly present your argument (the answer to your question). 2. Your brochure or infographic must take in to consideration an audience that may be different than writing an essay. Your information should be presented differently than in your essay. 3. Content requirements: a. Your brochure should meet the content requirements listed on page 352: i. To be brief, but interesting. ii. Chunk your text. iii. Include a call to action. iv. Make it worth keeping. b. OR your infographic should meet the requirements listed under “Creating your infographic” on page 343. 4. My recommendation is that you use a tri-fold or similar brochure, but you are free to choose another style (listed on page 353). Your infographic should be one page of text (not two-sided). 5. Use a footnote style citation and a Works Cited page. This should be either on the last page or the bottom. 6. Adhere to the text and image guidelines outlined in Chapter 14. 7. Print and pass out at least three of your projects. While passing them out, survey the people you give them to by discussing/asking about the following: a. Their knowledge of the topic b. Their knowledge on solutions 8. Write a short (one page minimum) reflection where you discuss all of the following: a. Reflect on the ways you presented your information differently with this project. Did you include all of the same facts, statistics, etc.? Did you frame your argument differently? b. Reflect on the questions you asked/discussions you had while handing out your brochure or infographic. What was the general reception? Were people willing to have a conversation about your topic with you? c. How can you use this knowledge to strengthen future communication? 9. Upload a completed copy of your brochure or infographic plus reflection by Tuesday, July 23rd at 11:59 PM.
