This document provides an introduction to a lecture on Human Computer Interaction (HCI). It discusses why HCI is important, noting that products should be designed to allow users to easily achieve their goals. However, many products are frustrating to use due to misplaced priorities, ignorance of real users, conflicts of interest, and a lack of design process. The document outlines key aspects of usability including learnability, efficiency, errors and satisfaction. It also discusses challenges in designing interfaces and why studying HCI is important to create easy to use, learn, and remember systems.
