Implications of Audio in Education
• People learn better when the narration in multimedia lessons
is spoken (Mayer, 2008)
• A friendly human voice works better rather than a machine
voice in multimedia lessons.
• Audio files improve students’ performance in higher education
(Alonso-Arbiol, 2009)
• Flexibility in accessing learning materials through mobile
device (anytime/anyplace)
• Appeals to audio/visual learners
• Support learners with reading or other learning difficulty

• Distribute teaching materials
• Summarize previous teaching

master certain skills or

Podcast in Education
• It is a method of delivery - via the internet, or an internal
intranet.
• Users can 'subscribe' to a particular podcast series, either
with a media player program such as iTunes or Juice, or
an RSS reader within their browser.
• Podcast Websites/Applications for Educational Purposes:
• National Public Radio (NPR)
• TED Talks
• A History of the World in 100 Objects (The British
News Company has a great podcast for anyone
teaching history or a related discipline)

Three Rules (if not importing or recording):
• One clip per track
• Audacity always records to a new track
• Edit/Duplicate vocal tracks will not create new audio
file
