- 2. OpManager is a web based application This application that monitors small and medium networks. OpManager monitors networked devices and the services and applications running on them. It runs on Windows 2000 Pro/Server, Windows XP Pro, Windows Server 2003 and Linux (Red Hat 7+ and Debian 3.0).
- 3. Management Interface The dash board is your guide to maneuvering around the systems. It is found to the top left of the screen. It allows you to get snapshot of the infrastructure.
- 4. Technological Operation Once installed, you use the system via a browser-based GUI. Because our test server already had a Web server running on port 80, the OpManager setup routine automatically decided to host its Web server on port 8060 instead, though this was a changeable option

- 6. The Alarm Being a monitoring system, OpManager can of course alert you when there’s a problem. You define how you wish to be alerted by defining “notification profiles”. There’s the usual choice of alerting mechanisms – email, SMS (either using email-to-SMS or an SMS modem), running an external program, or throwing a ticket into ServiceDesk Plus (another ManageEngine product that does trouble-ticketing).

- 8. Adaptive Management OpManager is feature rich, and customizable to enable adaptive management. This includes adding new devices or service types into the system, creating custom map views by grouping devices, support for custom SNMP traps, custom actions and graphs etc. to be adaptive to the end user needs. OpManager enables adaptive, multi-vendor management by making it simple to integrate new devices that you may purchase at a later date using open standards such as SNMP. This way the investment that you make today can continue to provide continuous returns as your network grows.

OpManager supports the following features/capabilities enabling adaptive management: Add new device types: New or custom device types can be added, and recognized separately to allow managing of other vendor-specific devices in the network. Custom Maps: Maps can be created to group devices in different ways according to geographic location, department, etc. thus enabling easier network management. Adding custom services: New or custom services can be added to allow monitoring exclusive services on the network. Custom SNMP Trap support: Process traps from any vendor-specific MIBs to allow receiving other SNMP traps not listed in "out of the box" OpManager. Custom actions: Execute custom scripts or tools automatically when an alarm is generated to leverage existing in-house scripts and build auto-healing networks and applications.. Custom graphs: Ability to graph any SNMP parameter from vendor-specific MIBs to enable vendor-independent performance management.
