Action Plan:The action plan was to put a timer in the bathroom for
15min and when it went off we would hop out of the shower, or we
would have a bath.(We already use economy setting on the dishwasher

and washing machine,we turn the water off whilst brushing our teeth,
and our sprinkler system is set for 15mins during summer.)

Family Thoughts on Plan: we thought it was achievable, and a good
idea to save time as well!!

the day

Thoughts on Outcome:
The data collected from week 2 actually shows that we used more water
than in the first week - this could be due to the fact that mum was away
in the first week and back in the second week, and had a lot of dirty
washing to do!

Effectiveness of the plan:
Our Family plan was effective on saving water, as long as everyone
remembered to use the timer!

Changes to plan and why they were made: there weren't any changes
made to the plan.

Final Decision on effectiveness of plan: We were already water
conscious and this was just another small way to reduce our water
usages. One of the biggest water users in our house is the top loader
washing machine, we could save more water by investing in a front
loader. Having an extra 2 adults in the house made a big difference to

Report on Household water usage, Page 3
our water usage. More washing was being done, more cups of coffee,
more showers, and lots more flushing toilets! In the final week of data
collection there was only 1 adult and 2 kids at home and our water
usage dropped heaps.

Total For The Week:

the day

Ease of implementation - thoughts from Family:
Mum:Cutting down shower time is fairly easy to do if you remember to
set the timer, we are water conscious in our family already.

Emma(Sister):Hopefully Santa Claus will bring mum a new washing
machine for christmas and then we can really make a difference to our
household water usage.
