Section 508 is a US law that requires all federal agencies to make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. It aims to ensure 10% of the US population with disabilities can access digital information. Key guidelines for web accessibility include providing text alternatives for non-text elements, ensuring forms are navigable with assistive technologies, and designing with guidelines from W3C Web Accessibility Initiative. Usability testing with disabled users also helps meet their needs.

- 2. What is Section 508 ? • Section 508 is an Amendment to the Workforce Rehabilitation Act of 1973, signed into law by President Clinton in 1998 • Section 508 requires information technology that is developed or purchased by the Federal Agencies be Accessible by people with disabilities 2
