Students in 4th and 5th grade will receive new laptops to use for classroom instruction tied to state standards. As part of the 24/7 program, students can take the laptops home after demonstrating responsibility to complete homework, research, and projects. Parents are responsible for ensuring students properly care for the laptops at home in safe locations away from food, liquids, or younger siblings. Students must charge their laptops each night and bring them fully charged to class daily as the laptops are a big responsibility requiring dependability. Research shows technology in the classroom increases student achievement through higher attendance, engagement, and behavior to avoid restrictions from inappropriate use of the laptops.
