Web Knowledge Sharing Platform
Introduction
Our goal is to create a user friendly, highly interactive web knowledge
sharing platform that would enable all walks of life from all over the world
to share, learn, inspire each other, connect and work together towards
same targets:
 provide education on sustainable development for everyone, children
and youth in particular
 enable free flow of knowledge, ideas, practices and experiences that
focus on helping people, communities and societies embrace and
further develop a sustainable way of life, work and future
 facilitate interregional and intercultural dialogue on reducing carbon
emissions, developing renewable energies and embracing the lifestyle
of health and sustainability for present and future generations
What is a web knowledge sharing platform?
 a multimedia web portal, with free access to the end user
 a place to share knowledge, practices and experiences in various formats
(blogs, case studies, publications, videos, photos etc)
 an interdisciplinary web directory
 a free resource of information in different formats (publications, online data,
videos, PDFs etc) available to use online and/or download
 a place to initiate, organize, manage and track projects, petitions, workshops,
webinars etc
 a place to initiate, manage and track fundraising campaigns
 a place to connect, widen networks, form co-operatives and partnerships
 a place for anyone, anywhere in the world
How and when can it be accessed?
 the web knowledge sharing platform will be available online from summer 2012
 the platform will be available to end users for free (no pay walls)
 it will be available in at least six different languages (English, Spanish, Russian,
Chinese, Hindu, Arabic)
 it will be interconnected with major social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Posterous,
Tumblr, YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr etc) ensuring wide reach and interaction
 it will also be accessible through APIs (Application programming interfaces) that
would enable even greater interlinking and interaction with other web sites and
platforms on the internet
 the platform would allow for different levels of administrators and contributors
(all access, per country, per project, etc )
What type of information / knowledge would the
platform provide?
 Environmental and sustainability issues per country
 Progress, milestones, experiences and case studies relevant to tackling
those issues
 Governmental and non governmental bodies in each country working on
environmental and sustainability issues
 Schools, universities and other educational entities, and their projects and
efforts with regards to the environmental and sustainability issues
 Educational curriculums and relevant online materials
 Free online video content
 Free e-books and e-magazines
 Other types of online content, downloadable or not
Milestones reached
 developed network of over 10,000 schools and universities from 30 countries in
Europe and Central Asia
 developed network of over 1,000 governmental and civil society organizations
 developed network of over 500 trained volunteers
 developed network of print, online and electronic media across Europe and
Central Asia
 developed network of local experts across 30 countries in Europe and Central
Asia
 assembled project team
 project outline, timeline and budget developed
