An overview of the MIKE2.0 Methodology A brief overview of MIKE2.0 and how it can be used for implementing Governance 2.0 Sean McClowry [email_address]
Our view is that information management is a “complexity challenge” Phenomenal growth of raw data and derived information Information assets in constant flux across the enterprise Efforts to increase visibility and access to relevant data and information are expensive, ROI can be difficult to measure Federation is a significant factor in complexity, and many “corporate assets” are in the cloud outside the enterprise True business insight still very hard to attain and quality is a huge problem Introducing required cultural and organizational changes is very difficult, especially in more mature organizations Information technologies have moved to the “sharp end” of innovation which presents opportunities and challenges The Approach Content Model omCollab Case Studies The Challenge Call to Action
We believe the industry needs a new form of standard to meet this challenge Better standards and transparency are needed to increase confidence and enable opportunities Processes and standards for managing and reporting data and information have not kept pace – everyone has “their” way Many problems are solved through informal networks – we need to link formal structures to these networks We want organizations to begin to develop a competency for Information Development We aim to re-shape the industry by creating the standard An open and collaborative approach is the key to delivering a standard for such a complex problem The Approach Content Model omCollab Case Studies The Challenge Call to Action
MIKE2.0 is the open source “face” to BearingPoint’s IM Solution Suite www.openmethodology.org MIKE2.0 (Methodology for an Integrated Knowledge Environment) The Approach Content Model omCollab Case Studies The Challenge Call to Action The core of our approach is based around an open source framework A free standard you can apply to any project Evolves and improves over time Open A systematic approach to solving information complexity Links together all Information Management projects Technology independent solutions Consultative Architecture and governance frameworks Reduce cost with already-built assets Leverage assets already shown to work on similar problems Accelerated Shared Open Assets Wikis (most) Blogs Open source code (most) Wikipedia articles IM sites Write access to all (typically with some controls) Open Methodology Phases, Activities and Tasks Architecture Framework Governance Framework Core Solution Offerings Business Solution Offerings Product Solution Offerings Some Supporting Assets Open access to all (with access controls on editing) Shared Private Assets White Papers Research and Academic pieces Blogs Web-Based Tools Read access to all Private Assets Project Assets Detailed Estimating Models Some strategic/detailed assets Only accessible to internal users Activity or Task Level Architectural Component Supporting Asset Asset Maturity Level Searchable Assets mapped through a Common Meta-Model\ Solution Level Asset Tagging and Integrated Search
An open and collaborative methodology is an innovative new approach We believe an open approach to information management is the best model for an increasingly connected world. MIKE2.0 is a public, open source delivery methodology that provides a common industry standard for Information Development The community based approach is being used for developing new theories in information management The approach provides an open methodology framework that can applied for other business challenges We introduce new techniques for collaborative governance where organizations can create mashups to MIKE2.0 The Approach Content Model omCollab Case Studies The Challenge Call to Action
This open community is used to develop the standard for Information Development Information Management assets on the web The Integrated Content Repository MIKE2.0 provides a collaborative community for information management professionals.
