A Policy Support System (PSS) combines the best available data and scientific knowledge to make it accessible and relevant to policymakers. A PSS integrates spatial databases, models, and a test bed to simulate user policies while retaining important complexity. It provides a flexible, dynamic, and visual interface to support analysis and learning for a wide audience. The SimTerra PSS framework and the AguaAndes PSS are examples that allow users to define an area, access and edit simulation parameters, run hydrological models under different policy and climate scenarios, and view results in a geobrowser.
