WhyYOU
Should Support
SCHOOL
FUNDRAISERS
a guide for teachers, principals, and administration
Teachers spend the most time
per day with students, so they
will need to be in touch with
student needs. This means that
supporting the fundraiser should
be your top concern. Happy
students create a thriving
learning environment. You need
supplies and additional
expenditures to ensure that
students are getting the most
out of this experience. In
addition, it means you will need
all of the essential supplies and
resources for equipping students
for education in an evolving
digital world. Think about the
possibilities: a new computer lab,
more educational movies, a field
trip to the science museum...
TEACHERS
According to the
National Center
for Education
Statistics, public
school teachers
spent an average
of 52.8 hours per
week on teaching
and planning in
2008.
Did you know?
HOW you can help:
Offer a fun prize incentive if a certain
goal is met, such as extra lunch time or
a classroom pizza party.
Buy something from a student to show
your support on a personal level.
Remind students of the goal, such as
new computers in the library.
Puts money in the budget for classroom
supplies and books.
Allows for special field trip expenses.
Funds to afford the expensive digital
equipment that your students will need
to know in the future.
WHY you should help:
“I am indebted to
my father for living,
but to my teachers
for living well.”
~ Alexander the Great
Teachers, parents and
administration look to the
Principal every year to prioritize
what is best for the students.
From the changing school lunch
menus to the budget for after
school activities and clubs, you
are the decision-maker. Use this
authority to show students how
to be leaders and achieve the
goals they set for themselves in
the fundraiser.
PRINCIPALS
Before he was the 37th
President of the United
States, Lyndon B.
Johnson was a school
teacher and principal
in Cotulla, Texas.
Did you know?
HOW you can help:
Offer a fun prize or incentive (such as
shaving your head) if a certain
fundraising goal is met.
Deliver speeches at the beginning of
fundraiser events that motivate and
inspire students.
Be the face and voice of the fundraiser.
Ask students in the hall how they’re
doing.
Establish a better relationship with
parents to know families on a deeper
and more personal level.
Teach the valuable lesson of working
together to achieve a greater goal.
WHY you should help:
It is a greater work
to educate a child, in
the true and larger
sense of the word,
than to rule a state.
~ William Ellery Channing
The administrators are the
foundation of the school. They
work hard to make sure
everybody is happy and safe
while learning. While it may
seem that duties of the
fundraiser are only required of
the students and teachers, it is
equally essential for
administrators to support the
school with such a big
endeavor. Build a strong
alliance within the school
community!
ADMINISTRATION
Stephen King
Gene Simmons
Art Garfunkel
Roberta Flack
Andy Griffith
Sheryl Crow
...and you.

SCHOOL
HOW you can help:
Acknowledge and publicize the
fundraiser on a daily basis.
Support the students with a purchase
or pledge!
Spread the word to other
administration and community leaders.
Lend a hand by volunteering for
fundraising activities or donating space
in the school to conduct fundraising
activities.
Get in touch with the needs of the
families and communities at large by
learning about the need for the
fundraiser in the first place.
Build a strong community/school
alliance.
