made based on the five components of wisdom.

 We will analyze and explain the rationale behind
the decision that the character made.

    different “life” priorities.

 Acknowledgment that different cultures have
different ideas of importance and value.
The “Right” Decision
 Sammy explained to his son, Jack, that even if
he was trying to make someone happy,
    stealing was wrong.

 Sammy told jack, he should apologize and
returned the doll to the classmate.

 Sammy explained the situation to the parent
of the other child and apologized, as well.
Conclusion
 By
utilizing the five elements of wisdom
Sammy was able to resolve the issue.

 Being able to understand wisdom allows
us to find resolution to practically every

Editor's Notes

  • #2: “Where is the wisdom; we have lost in knowledge” – T.S. Eliot
  • #3: Wisdom is the ability to make sensible decisions and judgments based on personal knowledge and experience as a whole. Wisdom is the combination of several different aspects of mental strength, such as tactical knowledge, emotional intelligence, and the intelligence to comprehend of what is true (factual intelligence) combined with just action or insight; especially when dealing with difficult matters(page 94).The scenario, Sammy is a 27-year-old father of two young children, Jack and Zoë. He recently found out that his 8-year old son, Jack, had taken a doll from one of his classmate. The parent of the class mate said the doll was taken from their house during a play date. Jack put the doll in his backpack and intended to give it to his younger sister who has been very ill for several months. Sammy, the children’s father, now faces the difficult decision of how to handle the situation, and acknowledge the reason behind why jack took the doll. He knows that jack only took the doll to make his sister feel better, but also realizes that taking the doll was wrong. He will need to address the appropriate steps of wisdom in order to find a resolution for this difficult situation, and what actions to take from that point.
  • #4: Factual knowledge is based on true information or knowledge that can be proven and is “generally” known to be exact. In real life situations factual knowledge is applied to resolve everyday problems. Factual knowledge allows individuals to look at a situation from all angles, analyze the data that is presented and come to a concise resolution. Knowledge involving, containing, or based on facts. This takes account of “knowledge about human nature, interpersonal relationships, and social norms” and a indistinct awareness of facts that are comprised of the actualities that are comprised of things that are definite.Sammy understands that Jack has taken the doll from his classmate since he the doll. Sammy can easily verify the fact that the other child had no knowledge of the miss toy being taken. He understands that Jack’s classmate did not give Jack permission to take the doll home, since he/she did not know the doll was gone. The next thing Sammy will have to consider is if Jack is old enough to understand the difference between right and wrong. Sammy is likely to be able to understand that the reason Jack stole the doll was not of malicious intent, but instead was meant to make his sister happy. Sammy should understand that ignoring the problem can make matters worse lead to negative behaviors in the future. Sammy is likely to recognize all of the factual information that relates to this situation, so he will be likely to be able to analyze the information in order to find the appropriate solution.
  • #5: Procedural knowledge is the process of understand several different, but necessary steps to respond to a task or problem. Knowledge that is exercised in the performance of most task and adapting techniques and strategies for dealing with life’s problems. Procedural Knowledge is based on a previously established set of stages that allow the individual to preform an undertaking in some way.Using procedural knowledge in conflict resolution often involves creating a strategy or plan of action, which can help with managing issues in a healthy way; accessing goals and the manner a problem should be addressed in respond to the dilemma. The procedural knowledge relates to this scenario would involves analyzing the situation from the point of view of each person involved, especially Jack’s perspective. Sammy must recognize he needs to be somewhat unbiased in regard to this affair. Sammy knows Jack best and will need to evaluate the best method to use when confronting jack about the “stolen” doll. Sammy would probably want to use a tactfully approach to discuss the incident and address the fact that the doll was taken to comfort jack’s ailing sister, Zoe. Sammy will probably want to this incident as an opportunity to teach Jack the difference between right and wrong of stealing, while conveying a sense of empathy and understand to attempt to help the child to understand why is was not okay to take the toy, even though it was meant to be a gift for Zoe. Jack will also have to analyze the feelings of Zoe, and jack’s classmate to be able to full understand a find the best solution.
  • #6: The position of lifespan contextualism in this scenario can become compounded as we identify the potential for worse behavior may affect many other aspects of in the child's academic and social lifespan. Understanding the role in the current perspective as the parent can aid the child in finding an effective manner for coping with his sister’s illness and prevent a reoccurrence of the negative behavior. The position of lifespan contextualism in this scenario can become compounded as we identify the potential for worse behavior may affect many other aspects of in the child's academic and social lifespan. Understanding the role in the current perspective as the parent can aid the child in finding an effective manner for coping with his sister’s illness and prevent a reoccurrence of the negative behavior. In this scenario Sammy is able to distinguish that this situation could create a conflict between Jack and his classmate in and outside of school and may create a stigma because he took the doll without asking to have it. This could also form the idea that it is okay to take things from people if it is going to make someone else happy, even if it is wrong, further perpetuating the idea that “stealing” is okay. Sammy understand that if he ignores the that fact that Jack took his classmates doll without permission it could have the potential to affect the Jack’s relationship at school and in future interactions throughout his life and could hold the potential to encourage Jack’s to “act-out.” By addressing the problem and coming up with a solution, Sammy is teaching the Jack how to handle feelings, appropriate behavior, and conflict resolution. Sammy is laying the foundation for wisdom and intelligence for Jack and Zoë.
  • #7: Recognition and management is the knowledge that most things in life are our of the control of the individual. This implies an understanding that the future is mysterious and there is no possible way to identify in advance those events. This method of knowledge confirms the idea that “life is often unpredictable” and that human knowledge islimited.Recognition and management is also a understanding that there is generally no perfect solution to any one problem and some problems may not be solvable. The Sammy must accept the fact that no answer is guaranteed and that life is not always certain. He must also help Jack to realize that often our best intentions may not create the desired effect. By accepting these uncertainties Sammy will be less likely to place blame, be angry, or have feelings of embarrassment. Understanding that there is not always a “right” solution to a conflict, Jack is more likely to be able to make his decisions based upon his inner knowledge, strength, and concern for Jack’s best interest. This inner, heart-felt approach to this type of problem can provide Jake with a stronger sense of emotional support. Jack may grow to learn that, even, when he has made a mistake his father will still be there, as a solid structure of support and guidance. As for Jack, he can rest assure, and with certain self-confidence, he is setting a positive example and being the best role model he can be in an uncertain world.
  • #8: Relativism Regarding Solutions is the intellectualcapacity to understand that not all people behave and think the same. Understanding that individuals have different “life” priorities and Acknowledging the fact that different cultures have different ideas of what is and is not important and valued based on their beliefs and ideologies. By establishing and understanding the cultural values we have we can better understand how to correct conflicts in our lives. Relativism Regarding Solutions also allows us to teach these beliefs, morals and virtues by observation and demonstrations of responsibility. Sammy must handle the situation in a manner that he deems appropriate in accordance with his beliefs. Instead of severely punishing Jack; Sammy could utilize this opportunity to create and establish an open dialogue about “right and wrong” and the emotional toll that his sister’s illness has taken on him. Perhaps Jack has wanted to talk to his father about Zoë being sick, but it would make his dad feel or maybe it would be unwelcomed. It is obvious that Jack felt sad that he could not help his younger sister to feel better. It could be that Zoë had always wanted the doll, but the family could not afford to buy one and this is why Jack thought he should give it to her, even if he knew it was wrong. There are many reasons that could have been behind why jack thought that taking the doll would have a positive outcome and there are also many ways for Sammy to illustrate why is wasn’t and how to create a positive outcome, all while instilling his morals in Jack.
  • #9: Sammy first decided it was important to explain that because he understood why Jack did what he and the feeling his son had for his daughter he was not anger, but instead Sammy talked calmly to both of his children. He explained that, while Jack may have had the best intention, taking things without permission is wrong. Sammy also told Jack and Zoë it would be a good idea to give the doll back to Jack’s classmate and that he should apologize for taking the doll. Jack agreed and took the doll back to his classmate the next day and apologized for taking doll in the first place. Jack also promised he would not steal anything ever again, Sammy hoped Jack would keep his promise. Sammy also told jack that they should make a doll for Zoë. The new doll would be unique and even more special since it was made with love. He later spoke to the parents of the girl/boy and also apologized for Jack taking the toy without asking; briefly explained the circumstances behind the events.
