No Mistakes made vs Hiding Mistakes vs Solve & Reflection of Mistakes Is there any person alive that never makes any mistake at all at work? I believe that it is only human to err. If so, what can be viewed at the year end performance appraisal that the worker has no mistakes known to the supervisor? When i make a mistake and if i am close to a co-worker, it could be covered up. Intentionally or otherwise, thinking that it is a small matter and need not escalate to the supervisor (may get into boss’s bad books for troubling him/her or show to boss that i am incapable of managing matters on my own, after which when something happens: “Why didn’t you escalate?”).

BENTSAI.COM The reason i am putting this post up is to remind myself that though it is critical not to make mistakes (accuracy as KPI); what is much more important is the ability to acknowledge the mistake, come up with a solution and take action to solve it. After the matter had been resolved, it could be summarized into a short memo to the boss. The boss would then decide whether to share to the department as lesson learnt to prevent future recurrence.

How do you discern what needs to be escalated, what could be lesson learnt or what needs to be cover up to save your rice bowl? If the resolution of those gaps you identified leads to additional workload to others, how would that affect your future in the company? Learning Outcomes: Be a social guru at work and foster teamwork yet with the integrity and courage to escalate “gaps” encountered at work, even if it may lead to no bonus, no salary increment, no promotion and potential job loss (Depending how appreciative your boss and colleagues are) #Work., #Mistakes., #Self_Reflection.,
