Interacting in the Workplace
Lesson Objectives
• Use polite phrases to ask for help or
information
• Practice real-life interactions around the
school
What is he saying?
What is he doing? What might he say?
What is she feeling?
What is she doing, and why?
What is he up to?(sarcastic)
What are they doing?
Useful Polite Phrases
• Excuse me, can I speak to someone from
accounting?
• I need to give this to the Head of Stage.
• Is it okay if I leave this paper here?
• Can you help me with this form?
Fillin the Gap Dialogue
• A: Excuse me, ___ I speak to someone in the
___ office?
• B: Yes, just a moment.
• A: Hello, I need to ___ this ___.
• B: Sure, you can leave it here.
Roleplay Activity
• Visit different 'offices': Accounting, Admin,
Head of Stage
• Practice real interactions
• One student is a visitor, the other is office
staff
• Use target phrases
• Switch roles every 5 minutes
Reflection & Homework
• Reflection:
• What phrase did you use the most?
• Which was most useful?
• Homework:
• Write 3 short dialogues from real or imagined
school interactions.
• Bring it with you tomorrow.
• Example: 'Can I have a copy of the timetable?'
