- 8. • Automation is concerned with a single task - launching a web server, configuring a web server, stopping a service. • Orchestration is concerned with automating the execution of a workflow ( a process). A provisioning process is comprised of multiple tasks and involves multiple systems. Orchestration implies optimizing the process such that the steps have a higher degree of reuse across the organization. - 9. Deployment or Operational ? • Deployment Automation - initial deployment of a device, application or service. Typically repeated only once per instance. • Operational Automation - ongoing maintenance of a device, application or service throughout its lifecycle. Repeated many times.
