Certain kinds of archeological sources which have writing on them – inscriptions, coins, and insribed images – can be
considered both material objects and texts". But the classification of sources has been only relative. In the scope of my
study, I would like to solely stress on written sources based on 2 main parts which are as follows: Firstly, written sources
of early Indian history ( ideas, knowledge and the way of analyzing and criticizing these sources); Secondly, a typical

Summary Of The Naked Source By Linda Simon
Every decent argument is backed by evidence. In "The Naked Source," Linda Simon argues that students should learn
history by interpreting primary sources. Simon supports her argument that students should confront primary sources to
better learn history by using ethos, logos, structure, and tone. Simon uses ethos as evidence to support her argument that
students should learn history by interpreting primary sources. The introduction in "The Naked Source" indicates that
Simon "earned a doctorate in English and American literature from Brandeis University and is currently professor of
English at Skidmore College" (250). This information establishes her credibility, or ethos, as a current teacher. It also

For example, in the introduction entitled "The Man Behind the Curtain", Larson quotes the writings of George S.
Messersmith, the American consul general to Germany, on his initial observations of Joseph Schachno, an American
physician who had been bloodily beaten by Hitler's forces: "'From the neck down to his heels he was a mass of raw
flesh...He had been beaten with whips in every possible way until his flesh was literally raw and bleeding" (Larson, p. 3).

Cincinnatus Primary Sources
Primary sources are typically original documents that offer an inside view of that particular event. This primary source is a
picture of a statute which allows us to assume that it's to represent a hero of some sort, so he was an important figure in his
time. We can also assume the time period based on his clothing; the clothes he has on can be associated with a time way
before any of us were born. Upon other research, I have concluded that this statue is of Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus, who
was a historical figure in Rome. In this essay, I will explain the importance of this primary source. Based on this picture, or
primary source, we can assume that the figure shown is a hero or a respected person in society. This person obviously was
part of a higher level of society, judging by the fact that he has a statue made of him to allow his legacy to live. Statues
usually signal some form of legacy or something that should be recognized. Based on my extra research, I have found out
that Cincinnatus is said to have won a war against an entire army in one day, and triumphed over Rome. He then proceeded

I think this statue is meant to show Cincinnatus' victory and short dictatorship over Rome as well as his first attachment to
his farm. The statue is trying to convey a message of being a hard–working leader and citizen. The ax in one hand
symbolizes his power he has as the dictator, and he may be holding it out as a symbol of handing down his powers, while
his other hand holds a plow, which attaches him to his farm. Cincinnatus' legacy is meant to show that a true, loyal citizen
won't let anything stop him from helping his city when needed. I believe the intended audience of this statue is whoever

Credible And Non Credible Sources
As a college student, I found that being able to identify the credible or non–credible sources is very important for the any
research projects or any college level assignments. As a result of my research on one single word "DIET" I found
672,000,000 items on the first page where I found at least one credible or trustful source and one non–credible sources or
non–factual source. Here I have a web link from New York Times with information on diet:

Many nurses had to leave the profession because of back injuries suffered on the job. Some studies were conducted
including different methods to try to reduce the number of injuries on the job. The annual costs for injuries in nursing are
around $20 billion. The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health conducted a project to improve safety of

Critically Analyzing Sources for Research
During college, students should be able to research and analyze their sources. It is an important life skill. By using the
ability to research, they can find articles with credible, reliable, and relevant information to get the best and dependable
research. People who use these techniques will find each of these components essential to the authenticity of an article.
These skills would be able to help students and researchers discover trustworthy and reliable sources. Each of the different
components in a quality research makes it solid and dependable. Credibility is how believable or truthful the research, and
whether the researchers have the credentials to do research in that area. Reliability is the reputation of the article's source,
and if the authors considered any biases. Relevancy is how current the article is or how important it is now. Students
conducting research in college need to be able to critically analyze sources for credibility, relevancy, and reliability in
order to determine their usefulness in a research paper.
The first step in finding a credible article is looking for credentials and qualifications of the authors. Each of the three
authors of this article has the credentials and qualifications to write about this subject. The three researchers of this article

It is important to add sources when they provide information that will help you make your point. There are two instances
that make using sources appropriate; one is in research papers, the other is in essays. In research papers, your thesis and
ideas are original, but sources are useful to back up your claims. Using sources in this way gives your paper a strong wall
of evidence to base your ideas on. In other essays, you can use sources to add detail, which makes your thesis more solid.
These sources can add statistics, evidence, illustrations, and historical information.
It is important to differentiate between facts, opinions, and bias when choosing sources because opinions and bias can be
false or misleading. A factual source is usually the best type of source for a paper because it is concrete and can be checked
for verification. Opinions, on the other hand, can not be verified because they are beliefs. Unless it is an opinion made by
an expert, you should not use opinions as sources because they can be false. Bias is the writer's personal view about a
subject and may be distorted. Biased sources aren't always wrong, but if you use one, add other sources with differing
views. At its worst, bias can be misleading and cause the audience to have a one–sided view of the subject.

Sources Of Diversity In Films
When doing research for my topic, Diversity in Films, I came across many sources. The first source that I found was a
scholarly journal named, Teaching Sociology. The journal, that was written by Mari Dagaz and Brent Harger, had a short
segment about diversity in films. One of the main points that stood out was one about how women and minorities are
portrayed in films. It stated that women and minorities in film are usually "underrepresented and based on traditional
stereotypes." This point is what I believe is one of the strengths of this source. This is because that short segment allowed
me to think about my topic more and opened my eyes to what I really needed to look for. Although, the fact that it did not
specify a certain minority nor give examples would be a weakness of the source. The fact that the journal did not give good
examples of the lack of diversity in films, would be considered the sources "weak" trait. If the journal would have given an
example of a stereotype that is used or an example of how women and minorities are portrayed, it would have made the

Source Code Essay
There are several definition of source code, which makes regulating it difficult because different regulators may have
varying conceptions of just what it is, and as a result, what kinds of rules should attach to it.
The general definition of source code that most people acknowledge is "the version of software as it is originally written
by a human in plain text" (Source Code). According to this definition, code is written by humans in order to create
software, which can be any operating system, program or data with a processor. The average person can see that the source
code would be the code that the software needs in order to function. This is source code but source code is also much
more.
Another definition states holds that source code is "any fully executable description of a software system. It is therefore so
construed as to include machine code, very high level languages and executable graphical representations of systems"
(Harman). At first glance, it seems just like the other definition. However, it only seems that way because we automatically
apply the assumption that the "executable description" is the same as the "version of software" which may not necessarily
be the case. The description leads us to believe that the source code does not necessarily have to run the software but can

Four out of the five sources disagree with the statement even though Source C is quite open to interpretation. In my
opinion the most useful source was Source D. This is because it gave information which speaks about the first day from a
perspective that we don't usually see. Though this could be seen as bias, it is actually the most informative regarding how
it went for the British. The source uses specific details which cannot be picked up in the other sources and it also shows
reasoning as the battle went in our favour. On the other hand, we have Source C which to me was the least useful. This is
because it was a propaganda film which made it unreliable. It was also not very trustworthy because when compared to
other sources prior knowledge, there are so many inaccuracies within it. Even then, unlike Source E which may also be a
form of propaganda, there is not much that can be deduced from Source C. This source has an inaccurate portrayal of the

of their origin, nature and purpose. I think that it is mainly the purpose which impacts they content of each source however

When looking at each of the articles presented, there are defining factors that allow researchers to determine whether or
not it is a scholarly or popular resource. Of the two articles, one can assert that the USA Today Article is a popular source
and the article by Baker and Algorta (2016) is a scholarly source. Each of these sources has their advantages and
disadvantages due to the stylistic devices employed by the writers. With the help of each article, knowledge of readers and
viewers is expanded, and while there are some facets that detract from the quality of the knowledge gained, the readers

What is a Good Source? Most students have written their fair share of papers that require multiple sources from multiple
viewpoints. But how do you know which sources are reliable and which ones to avoid? With the amount of information
out there, it is incredibly hard to know what is true or not or who is being incredibly biased or not.

Bias can change how an article is written and can obscure the truth of the information that is there. If there is a bias

that a person has completed in the past, to help persuade people that they have experience and are reliable. When using
logos you can cite statistics, analogies, and historical context about a topic to show you are a credible source and that the
information you are using can be proven with evidence. It enhances a rational and fact based reasoning on a topic. If you
use pathos and appeal to the more emotional side of a topic, a reader could immediately identify your source as bias, as it
uses a human's sense of emotion to get someone to agree with a topic.
A credible and reliable source can be determined through characteristics in spelling/grammar, citations and examples used
within a document, and the author. Once a reliable and credible source has been identified you can use it in any research
paper that will help improve your skills as a writer, and make your writing as reliable as the sources that allowed you to
