How to achieve great results? Firstly: Attendance… Target: 100% Minimum: 90%
What do students need to attend? Lessons and Compulsory Study sessions Registration (8.40-9am) Assembly – Wednesday instead of Registration PSD Enrichment – Weds P5 and other times  Other trips etc.
Student attendance will be tracked If students fall under 90%... Letter/email home Meeting with Member of the Sixth Form Team No improvement = Asked to pay for exam entries Asked to leave Sixth Form
The following are NOT acceptable reasons for missing lessons: Doctors/Dentist – except emergencies Holiday during term time – NO! Driving lessons Paid Work To complete work for other subjects To revise for tests Students are here FULL TIME
AS Levels All are modular (Either 2 or 3 modules across the year) Exams are in January and May/June Must be passed with at least a D grade to continue to A2 (Second Year) AS results only represent 50% of the full A Level A2 level is EVEN harder!
BTECs Majority coursework Requires a lot of independent work Worth two GCSEs each for Level 2 Can lead to L3 study (A Levels/BTEC) Worth one A Level for Level 3
Get Organised! Subject teachers will help students Time management Deadlines! Folders/dividers Find somewhere quiet to work School open from 8am to 5pm
Areas students can use Common Room Sixth Form Computer room Library (both sites) Booked classrooms/computer rooms – look for notices RESPECT FOR AREAS
Induction Sept ‘11 Wednesday 7 th  Sept Half Day in school to meet Form Tutors and complete target setting. Enrichment Fair Thursday 8 th  Sept SAY Youth induction training  Friday 9 th  Sept Offsite team building day

What we expect of students  Attendance (lessons, enrichment etc.) Punctuality – some late already Dress Code Role models/treatment of younger students Behaviour around site Mobiles/MP3/Headphones Stick to Sixth Form areas of the School
How do we know how well students are doing? TMGs = Target Minimum Grades Calculated from GCSE results Based on a country wide sample of A Level results of students with similar GCSE results Will be shared with you by FTs/Subject teachers Appear on marked work & reports Should be an indication to students as to their progress May seem low, but these are MINIMUM – you should be aiming at least one grade higher

Issues Course Changes – not recommended – but can happen in first few weeks – give your subjects a go!
