June Panorama
¡Welcome to the June edition of Energy Panorama!
This month’s featured report is the Madrid Energy Conference 2025 summary report.
With world events shifting the energy landscape at an unprecedented pace, MEC25 provided a timely and vital space for leaders across government, industry, and civil society to engage in smart, frank, and forward-looking dialogue. From energy security to electrification, from natural gas strategy to industrialization policy, the conversations were bold, informed, and remarkably honest, anchored by the shared conviction that collaboration between Europe and Latin America is not just strategic, but essential.
Continuing with our efforts to engage “Future Energy Leaders” we were delighted to have Katrina Haidari, Yuxuan Wu, Jorge Alves, and Paul Youngblood, graduate students at the UC San Diego’s School for Global Policy and Strategy (GPS) join us in Madrid to serve as rapporteurs. They did a marvelous job capturing and synthesizing our wide-ranging discussions. We also would like to reiterate our gratitude to Johan Gerretsen for his generous donation that enabled their attendance and participation. Read Report »
In early June, we were pleased to host our event in Mexico City: “Mesa Redonda sobre Electricidad y Gas Natural en México” as well as a private stakeholder breakfast pertaining to our research project focused on the electric sector and economic competitiveness.
Thank you to our sponsors, Steering Committee, and panelists, particularly our keynote speaker Jorge Islas, Mexico’s Deputy Secretary of Energy Transition and Planning. Our short summary report is now available. We would also like to recognize the efforts of Juan Morfin de la Parra and Atena Baghbanian, who helped prepare the summary.
The topic of data centers and energy demand growth, as well as sustainability and community engagement, continue to grab headlines. We are pleased to host our first-ever event related to these crucial issues, with a focus on the Andean region. Mark your calendar to join us in Santiago, Chile on August 21-22 for our event and discussions.
And, of course, this month we continued planning for the XXXIV La Jolla Energy Conference on October 21-23 with further development of the draft agenda and release of our LJC25 welcome video.
