CSISA-AAS alignment meeting
Jessore, 6-7 May 2013
Alignment - what are we trying to do together?
• Improve understanding of CGIAR reforms and new programs
• Improve understanding amongst AAS staff of CSISA approach
and vice versa
• Agree how AAS program and CSISA project can be mutually
supportive to achieve CGIAR program goals
• Identify practical plans for aligning the work of CSISA and
AAS (in the hubs/zones in particular)
• Agree mutually supportive science products that can be
developed
Alignment – what does it mean?
It is not about ticking a box
– It is about capitalizing on exciting
opportunities:
 Identify mutual learning
 Identify mutual contributions
 Identify ways to increase our impact
 People working together in a program

• What has been key learning of CSISA that informs AAS?
– eg – CSISA development outcomes, ways of working
• How can CSISA partnerships and networks contribute to AAS?
– eg private sector networks; research; direct client groups; capacity
building
• Where can AAS support CSISA?
– eg participatory planning?
• In which CSISA communities could AAS work to scale out?
• What common research agenda and approach can AAS and CSISA
pursue together?
– eg challenged ponds, PAT, knowledge sharing, vegetable group
• Where are the gaps to increase value? What actions are needed to
address gaps? Who does what and when? What resources are
required?
• How can day-to-day working practices and communication be
enhanced to improve mutual understanding and impact?
…. there are many exciting opportunities
• thankyou - over to you all!!
