This document defines and describes different types of integrative teaching and learning. Integrative teaching connects what is learned in school to real life by organizing lessons around real-life situations and incorporating students' interests. Integrative learning involves students making connections between prior and new knowledge across disciplines. The document outlines three types of integration: intradisciplinary within a subject, interdisciplinary between two or more subjects, and transdisciplinary beyond academic subjects to real-world contexts through project-based learning. Examples are provided for each type.
