  flat since 2007 inflation ($240,000
• Positions in to $320,000).
Technical Services • No relief expected
  are not filled
The Mission

• WSU Libraries mission has not changed
• The library still needs to fill the information
 requirements of the WSU research,
 teaching and outreach efforts

Communication
• Two examples of how the serials decisions

• Hum/Soc – request faculty prioritize each title
• Science-proposed cancellation list for faculty

WSU Landscape
• WSU – Land grant institution with employees
geographically dispersed across the state and at four
    locations
• Each library has its own budget, but our collection is
    cooperatively shared and developed
• Not all publisher recognize that WSU is one institution
so some eResources are not available to all campuses.
• WSU made 5 major corrections to IP address in 2009
where hundred’s of providers needed to be notified
EBSCO Landscape
• WSU Accounts had been established
  separately over time.
• Account parameters reflected local needs at
the time as opposed to current system
  needs.
• IP addresses and contact information sent
  with orders.
The Way It Was …..

Summary

 Cancellations create the opportunity to really
  understand post-cancellation access rights.
 After the hard work of deciding cancellation and
notifying agent, changes are need to ERM and OPAC.
A work in progress
• Collections are always a work in progress,
each year adjusting and fine-tuning the
process in response to current situation.

  • 11. WSU Landscape • WSU – Land grant institution with employees geographically dispersed across the state and at four locations • Each library has its own budget, but our collection is cooperatively shared and developed • Not all publisher recognize that WSU is one institution so some eResources are not available to all campuses. • WSU made 5 major corrections to IP address in 2009 where hundred’s of providers needed to be notified
  • 12. EBSCO Landscape • WSU Accounts had been established separately over time. • Account parameters reflected local needs at the time as opposed to current system needs. • IP addresses and contact information sent with orders.
  • 13. The Way It Was ….. Account structure in Example: 2008 SF77700-00 used for • One account for each Pullman titles in all regional library with formats independent and account structure • Inaccurate IPs associated with titles • Accounts were not aligned with IP ranges available to all campuses

  • 24. Summary  Cancellations create the opportunity to really understand post-cancellation access rights.  After the hard work of deciding cancellation and notifying agent, changes are need to ERM and OPAC.
  • 25. A work in progress • Collections are always a work in progress, each year adjusting and fine-tuning the process in response to current situation.
