What is plagiarism? “It is common knowledge that everyone learns his first language with a fair degree of success, the reason being that everyone is born with the ability to learn a language and then grows up in a community in which he needs to function to some degree through language, the rules of which are imparted to him in the normal course of the day” (Rubin, 1975, p. 41) 1. Rubin (1975) states that it is commonly known that everyone learns his/her first language to a relatively good degree of success, because everyone is born with this ability and then grows up in a family where the rules of the language are taught. 2. Rubin (1975) states that all individuals are born with an innate ability to acquire language, which is then developed and nurtured in the individual’s cultural surroundings through daily interactions.
