I learned more about the individuals and interactions in that class in that ten minute experiment, than I had in the previous few months. Their feedback afterwards was vocal and enthusiastic. It was energising for everyone. I also heard from a character in the class that had previously never really spoken. Because he didn’t speak English well, I always assumed he was a quiet character. Well, in this context, for once he responded to me. He said he would jump rather than run through the fire, so I asked him, “aren’t you scared you’ll break your leg?” Without missing a beat, he replied: ‘no. I’d fly away.”
