This document summarizes initial audience research conducted for a romantic comedy genre film. It finds that the target audience is majority female teenagers who enjoy music, the internet, books and films. They prefer romantic comedy narratives involving opposites attracting, characters denying love until the end, and friends becoming lovers. Regarding trailers, respondents expect voice overs, close ups of characters, upbeat music and establishing plots/characters. For posters, they prefer images of main characters against plain backgrounds with cute fonts, quotes and hints of romance conveyed through pastel colors.
