promote my TIP.
ELEVATOR PITCHES
• You find yourself in an elevator with the one
person who has the power to make your project
a reality. You have the time it takes to get to the
top floor to sell her on your idea. Do it.
• Speeches must be 40 Seconds-60 seconds
THE FIVE W’S
• WOW!: Hook your audience and make them care.
• What?: What is the goal of your project? What do you hope to
accomplish?
• Who?: Who is your target audience? Who will benefit from
this? Who do you want to participate?
• When?: Provide dates and explain the timeline.
• Why?: Why does your project matter? Why is it special?
MR. BONICA’S ELEVATOR PITCH
Reading opens up the world to a child by allowing skills like inquiry, empathy,
and creativity to flourish. It are these characteristics that make learners ready to
tackle any challenge that the world can throw at them. However, for many
children in our community, when school stops so to does the reading. This is
not because they don’t want to read, rather, it is a matter of a lack of access to
high interest books in the home. That is a problem that we simply cannot allow
to hold the children of this community back.
Books on Wheels is a community outreach program designed to get books in
the hands of the kids who need them most. Throughout the summer, we will be
traveling around our community to low income neighborhoods and apartment
complexes to distribute books to the families that often times do not have
access to them otherwise. Research shows that home libraries are correlated
with success in the classroom and life long engagement with learning.
Next week, you all have the chance to help. So please, bring new and gently
used high interest books to the Books on Wheels Book Drive. That book that
changed your life can change another.
