LoRaWAN enables low-power wireless connectivity for IoT devices over long ranges using spread spectrum modulation in sub-GHz ISM bands. It supports bi-directional communication with adaptive data rates between 300bps to 50kbps. Devices can operate for over 10 years on battery power. The LoRa Alliance oversees the technology specifications and certification process with over 500 member companies. LoRaWAN deployments have reached over 100 countries for applications like smart cities, metering, and asset tracking.
