 Sound and Broadcast Technicians set up,
operate and maintain the electrical
equipment for radio programs, television
broadcasts, sound recordings and movies.
What does a Sound and Broadcast Technicians Do?
 Broadcast and sound technicians typically do the
following: Operate, monitor and adjust lighting,
audio, video and broadcast equipment to assure
consistent quality.
 Set up and take down equipment for the events.
 Record music, speech and other sounds on
recording equipment or computers.
 Synchronize sounds and dialogue with action
taking place on TV or in film productions.
 Convert audio and video records to digital
formats for editing on computers.
 Fix audio, video, and lighting equipment in
offices and schools.
 Report each and every problem that arises with
complex equipment and make routine repairs.
 Keep records of recordings and equipment used.
 These artists may be called sound technicians,
broadcast technicians, operators or engineers.
 At smaller radio stations and television stations,
broadcast and sound technicians do many jobs.
 At larger stations, they have to do more specialized
work, although their job assignments may vary from
day to day.
 They set up and operate all the audio and video
equipment and the type of equipment they use may
depend on the type of technician.
 Broadcast and sound technicians share many of
the same responsibilities, but their
responsibilities may vary with their specific area
of focus.

and broadcast technicians Broadcast Technicians
 Broadcast technicians operate, setup and
maintain equipment that regulates the signal
strength and ranges of sounds and colors for
radio or television broadcasts.
 They operate transmitters either in studios to
broadcast radio or television programs.
 Broadcast technicians also use computer
software to edit audio and video recordings.
 Sound technicians also known as audio engineers
or sound mixers, operate computers and
equipment that record, mix or reproduce music
or sound effects in recording studios, theatre
productions or movie and video productions.
 They record audio events and may combine
audio tracks that were recorded individually to
create a multilayered final product.
