• The main antagonists victims are shown as weak and helpless when
confronted with the main antagonist.

• Conventional settings for this sub-genre are forests, but also religious
settings are also included.
• The main antagonist is found in a remote location e.g. a forest
• The protagonist is found in a religious setting e.g. a church
Camera Work:
• Extreme close ups are used commonly in this sub-genre to show off the
antagonists exploits in detail.
• Strange angles and canted camera shots are used, mainly to create distortion
and confusion.
Sound:

• In some cases sound/music used don’t match the action on screen
Editing:
• Chase sequences between the antagonist and his victims are a common

• Fast paced editing is also commonly used to emphasis the drama and tension.
• When the drama is over the editing resumes to a close up of the victims or
antagonists face.
