WORLD FOOD SHORTAGE.

The world population is increasing at a very fast rate and in the next decades to come, the world would
experience the fast and worst world food shortage in which millions of people will lose their lives.

Land is fixed and every year the world population is creasing, this means that more food must be
produced to feed the increasing population. The increasing population has caused a negative impact on
the environment resulting into climate change which has changed the weather conditions in some parts
of the world resulting into a decline in agricultural production. Agriculture ranks number one among the
sector which provide human basic needs (food) without which humanity cannot survive. Agriculture
depends on favorable climate and good weather in order to produce enough food for humanity living on
planet earth. Even though a country is more industrialized and having a very fast growing economy that
country will have to import food for its people.

In the next decades the world would experience the first and worst food shortage which will result into
millions of people losing their lives. Food prices will increase to the extent that only the rich will be in
position to buy food. Countries in the world where 90% of its population earn a living through
agriculture will face it rough they will be hit with the worst poverty which will result into many people
losing their lives.

To respond to the above situation/disaster, the following should be done:

Every country in the world where its citizens do agriculture and the country has realized a drop in
agricultural production, there is need for the government of such a nation to initiate actions such as
massive planting of agro forestry trees, teach best agricultural practices such as crop rotation to all
farmers so that the fertility of the soil can be improved. If fertility of the soils improves, food production
will also increase.

To the farmers in the world with small plots of land of less than half an acre, governments should
increase its spending in agricultural sectors so that farmers are supported and they are able to
undertake intensive farming methods like poultry keeping, Zero grazing, horticulture, pig rearing, mush
room growing and fish farming. The above agricultural activities requires small plot of land, with good
agricultural practices, farmers can produce a lot of food.

In most of the development world, rural farmers who still have enough land are still using a hand hoe
and planting low quality seeds. As a result, they produce very little food and yet rural farmers are people
who supply food in most of the urban areas in the world. So governments again need to provide
agricultural mechanization such as tractors, oxen and improved seeds so that farmers are able to
produce enough food. Developed world and those industrialized nations should support less
industrialized nations with agricultural imports NOT military supply. A lot of support from developed
world to help developing world comes in military supply. Developed nations should think twice and send
a lot of support in agricultural sector to developing nations. If we should have real democracy being
practiced in every nation in the world, they would be no need of buying powerful guns for a mere man.
The young generation can work very hard to prevent the world food shortage a head of us. Most of the
young people are not employed in white collar jobs. The white collar jobs are occupied by old people
who cannot vacate the job until death. So we the young generation can only be employed in agricultural
sector if we can be supported with inputs. In so doing we can help prevent the world food shortage
head of us.

High agricultural production goes hand in hand with good weather and climate. If there is climate
change as is the case in most countries, agricultural production is affected greatly and this result into
shortage of food. So international communities, G8 and developed world need to support
environmental youth activities such as tree planting which can help restore the environment so that the
climate and weather are conducive for agriculture. We the young people would like to plant trees like
wood lot, agro forestry and fruit but we are not able because we lack help.

Lastly developing world whose economy depends on agriculture should come up with a law to force
every strong person to be involved in agriculture if we are to stop the worst world food shortage a head
of us. Many youths have migrated from rural areas to urban areas where there is high rate of
unemployment and they end up doing causal work and living in slums which is associated with bad
behaviors such as prostitutions and theft. They work for very small money and they are the working
force of a country. They leave behind old people who cannot dig. So the youths living in urban areas and
they do not have good work should be send to rural areas so that they can help increase food
production which can help prevent the worst world food shortage a ahead of us.

If developed and developing nations could take up my vision, we can prevent the worst world food
shortage which is going to claim millions of lives of the people on planet earth in the coming decades.

We can stop this! Yes together we can!
