The following students were selected as finalists for the Express the Music contest: Marina Schmitt, Lelah Schneider, Hope Henningsen, and Trisha Nguyen. Hope Henningsen was awarded 3rd place for her essay. The Express the Music contest gives students the experience of writing a creative response to Bartók's Concerto for Orchestra: Movement IV. Over 1,850 students participated this year, with 451 submissions from the St. Louis area. Preliminary judges identified 42 finalists, including 4 students from Lindbergh Schools, with Hope Henningsen placing 3rd.

This year, over 1,850 students parƟcipated in Express the Music 2014. 451 of the essays were submiƩed from the St. Louis area into the compeƟƟon. Preliminary judging by members of the Symphony Volunteer AssociaƟon and the community idenƟfied 42 finalists from both the Junior Division (Grades 6-8) and Senior Division (Grades 9-12). Four final judges selected three finalists and two honorable menƟons per each Division.
