Reader Services   (Make the yearbook user friendly) Table of Contents should compel readers to look inside, heightening their interest by using excerpts from the actual sections.  Title Page should include name and year of the book, school name,  school address and school phone Dividers introduces each major section by including a title and design that fits that section

Folio/Folio Tabs page number & page content info. on the bottom of each page Colophon page or column tells about the staff and the acknowledgments
The Cover Foreshadows the inside story Sets the tone and mood Attracts attention Everyone knows that you are not supposed to judge a book by its cover, but everyone does.
Endsheets (holds the pages inside the front & back cover) Contribute substantially to the story Enhance the tone or mood Complement the cover  May include a table of contents Often used for students’ signatures
Opening and Closing Introduce and conclude the  story logically  Relate specific details Heighten the tone or mood  Establish distinctive, consistent design

Picture book  – captures moments using photos that show action and reaction. History book  – records details about events and activities from the routine to the extraordinary. Reference book  – confirms students enrolled at the school, spelling of names and scores or games. Educational book  – an opportunity for those who create the book to learn. Fun book  – exciting for students to read and staff to produce. Functions of the yearbook:
Gives the yearbook a unique personality & approach - different from any other year Ties the pages together - makes the book cohesive Sets a mood - serious, frivolous, spirited, sophisticated, etc.  Purpose of a theme:
Is the theme slogan appealing on a yearbook cover, t-shirt or poster?  What colours, graphics, photos can illustrate the theme? What specific information will support the theme? Can you develop spin-offs phrases or concepts to use throughout the book & in every section?  Is it appealing to the students?  Does it reflect what is happening in the school? Considerations in choosing a theme:
