Final Course
Reflection
By: Jose Rodriguez
What I Learned:
• I learned that when it comes to finding,
analyzing and documenting information that
you want to asks make sure your sources are
reliable.
• For surveys you want good balance and
usually open ended questions.
• The U.S. Census is usually your best source for
statistics about the United States and it’s
people.
What I Learned:
• I learned that short reports are best used
when you need some thing done by someone.
• Justification reports and problem solving
reports both need to be eased towards the
reader.
• Avoiding the word “you” and showing the
benefits the reader would receive are
important towards yielding best results.
What I Learned:
• I learned that whether you’re designing
documents, slides or screens you ALWAYS
want to be clear and concise.
• Being user friendly is always the most
important factor when it comes to catering to
your audience.
• Being clustered with pictures, animations and
sounds will more times than not ruin the users
experience.
What I Learned:
• I learned that persuasive messages are much
like reports, yet they ultimately require more
information that yields to the reader in order
to convince them towards a recommended
action.
• You want to always include financial benefits if
you want the best results.
• Finding a common ground is a must in order
to convince your reader.
What I Learned:
• I learned that proposals and progress reports
usually cover sales information, analytical
evidence of annual revenue, and
recommendations.
• You must always specify all the technical
questions in order to get the problem solved.
• AVOID HOT BUTTONS. They more times than
not end up with bad results.
How I Learned It:
• The combination of Analysis Assignments 3 &
4 both helped me grasp these concepts.
• Analysis Assignment 3 helped me realize how
a bad webpage can completely destroy the
image of your company is it’s not user friendly.
• Analysis Assignment 4 helped show me that
you always have to think twice before you
write something. You will never win over an
audience if you offend them.
Why It Matters:
• Learning about this was important because it
helps you know the ideal options towards
reaching specific audiences.
• Whether you want something from the reader
or want to provide the reader with something,
you always have to cater to them.
• If you don’t derive your information from
reliable sources, you will in turn be considered
unreliable.
My Goals:
• I want to take what I’ve learned and use this new
found knowledge towards chasing a career.
• I now know that if I want to appeal towards an
employer that I need to always show them the
benefits that THEY receive from hiring me.
• I want to always keep everything I’ve learned in
mind and ensure that I always write for the
people and offer the the best unbiased, most
reliable means of that.
