This study evaluates the performance of GPU versus CPU for parallelizing multiple independent runs of evolutionary algorithms, revealing that while GPUs offer significant power, CPUs can outpace GPUs in certain scenarios. The research identifies specific conditions where using a GPU is advantageous and provides recommendations on optimizing the use of these platforms in various applications. The results suggest that the choice of computation platform should be made based on informed decision-making rather than assuming one is universally superior to the other.
