Access
Television broadcasting meant for direct-to-home broadcast programming, provides a
mix of traditional radio and/or television broadcast programming with satellite-dedicated
programming. TV is depending in special broadcasting schedule for presenting TV
programs so learners cannot access the TV programs in any time because of this reason.
Learner should know the TV programs schedule to get benefits from that programs and
instructors should also tell their students about the TV programs and its times. TV is not
flexible well compared with other distance education technologies because it needs
specific time, good TV machine and access to various channels to receive the TV content.
Also, it doesn’t support student control and self pace.

Cost
TV broadcasting is very expensive because it needs expensive and advance equipment,
professional human support and technical support, a lot of work and long time to capture
and montage few minutes only in one TV program. It is very high cost compared with
other technologies like printed materials and internet.

Teaching and Learning
This kind of technology is used for group-based learning. TV program is aimed for large
numbers of students. Student by using this technology need to see the program and after
that they need to contact with instructor for more explanation of any difficult points. It
increases the motivation of the learner. It provides attractive audio and video to support
students learning. It increases students listening, speaking, focusing to important points,
writing (taking notes) and visual analyzing skills. But it is not support the other basic
skills like problem solving, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, motor and
intellectual skills .It can’t be used only in distance education unless integration with other
technologies and media to support TV environment like printed materials, telephone
,internet to deliver supplemental materials support synchronous and a synchronous
communication.
Interactivity and User-friendliness
TV supports only synchronous interaction because the learners have to see the program
lively in one time. TV is very easy to use because the students are familiar with this
technology so the learners can use it by themselves without any difficulties and interact
with the machine easily to receive the TV content.

Organizational issues
TV broadcasting for distance education needs instructional developer and designer to
meet the needs of distance learners. It needs huge technical support and also professional
team for TV production. The barriers of using this technology are need for huge technical
and human support, learner can’t interact with the content and learners are limited in
specific time of broadcasting TV programs. The change that organization should be
made to incorporate the technology is repeating broadcasting the program more than one
time to let all the learner see it and repeat it for more understanding of the content. Also,
providing video-cassettes and two-way interactive television for the learners.

Novelty
It is not a new technology using to deliver instructional programs. The technical
capabilities available in TV are different screen size with a very good resolution, high
quality of pictures and audio.

Speed
The process of creating a program or a course in TV takes long time and needs a lot of
money and efforts. After producing the content it will be distributed to large numbers of
people it short time and easy way. In addition, the changing of the material can be done
in shorter time than production new one by adding additional pictures, information or
video in the original materials or edit and delete any things.
