The paper discusses an adaptive type-2 fuzzy controller for load frequency control in a hydro-thermal power system that incorporates superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) units. It demonstrates that the type-2 fuzzy controller outperforms conventional and type-1 fuzzy controllers in managing frequency deviations and system responses under varying load conditions and uncertainties. The results indicate significant improvement in stability and performance metrics like overshoot and settling time compared to traditional control methods.
