TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION According to the National Forum on Education Statistics (2005), technology integration is defined as “the incorporation of technology resources and technology-based practices into the daily routines, work, and management of schools” (Part 8).  Resources include the following: Computers Specialized Software Network-based communication systems Other equipment
WHAT DOES TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION LOOK LIKE IN THE CLASSROOM? Interactive Whiteboards Blogging Wiki Google Earth/Google Sky Podcasting Classroom Performance Systems Video Conferencing
TECHNOLOGY USE The International Society for Technology In Education (ISTE, 2007) states, “to learn effectively and live productively in an increasingly digital world, students should know and be able to USE technology for creativity and innovation; communication and collaboration; research and information fluency; critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making; digital citizenship; and technology operations and concepts.” Types of Technology for Use: *Digital Cameras *Computers *Overhead Projectors *Monitors *TVs *Programs for computer use
WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY USED FOR IN THE CLASSROOM? Create original works for personal use Interact, collaborate, and publish with peers, with digital environments and media Locate, organize, analyze, evaluate, synthesize, and ethically use information from a variety of sources and media Plan and conduct research, manage projects, solve problems and make informed decisions using appropriate digital tools and resources
PERSONAL TOUCH ON TECHNOLOGY USE AND INTEGRATION Technology integration in the classroom provides the student with more resources to use for education Technology use allows students to become actively engaged in learning various material from the curriculum Technology use and integration are very similar but are not the same
