EARLY HISTORY In 1950 English mathematician Alan Turing wrote a landmark paper titled “Computing Machinery and Intelligence” that asked the question: “Can machines think?” Further work came out of a 1956 workshop at Dartmouth sponsored by John McCarthy. In the proposal for that workshop, he coined the phrase a “study of Artificial Intelligence”

- 11. SOPHIA ROBOT Sophia is a social humanoid robot developed by Hong Kong-based company Hanson Robotics. Sophia was activated on April 19, 2015 and made her first public appearance at South by Southwest Festival in mid- March 2016 in Austin, Texas, United States. She is able to display more than 62 facial expressions.
