OF MONSTERS AND MEN

IMAGE / STYLE
Of monsters and men are known to be open but also
quite quiet. They like to experiment with different types
of genres and collaborate with different artists. They
are very social and like to go out a lot. Of monsters and
men aren’t really known for a specific type of style but
their only common aspects of props is their musical
instruments. There USP is the way in witch they relate
the songs to a certain shape. A good example of this s
their album cover.
TYPE OF VIDEOS
Majority of their videos are performance. Of
monsters and men are a Alternative, Indie
and Folk group which means they target a
very NICHE audience. For them to get well
known, they need to sell themselves by
getting known and the only way to do this is
by creating performance videos so the
audience can recognise them. If, in the future
the do become more mainstream, they can
start creating narratives which they can relate
to the audicne to form a bond / relationship.
PLATFORMS
I have been watching the music
videos of Of Monsters And Men on
Vevo as this is where I was sent to via
their website. The Vevo page is all
based around their newly released
album ‘Beneath the skin.’ Some of the
features are links to different
websites; for example their social
media pages.
PERFORMANCE
In their videos they show off their live
performance skills to get people to go
and watch them live at one of their
concert tours. On Vevo they have
uploaded videos of themselves playing
each individual song live to sell
themselves to the viewers.
SOCIAL MEDIA AND WEBSITES
On Of monsters and men Facebook page,
they have designed it to link to their new
album design. As you can see they have
also changed their profile picture to the
album cover so the audience can
recognise it. Of monsters and men have
used Facebook as another place to sell
themselves and to get known. This is the
same for their Twitter page too. Their
pages don’t link into any individual song,
they link into the album as they are
wanting to sell it and get it known
SYNERGIES
Of monsters and men link all the synergies together to sell their
latest album ‘Beneath the skin.’ Each individual page links to
another with its type of font, the use of colours, the same images.
This is to get it well recognised. They basically all copy the same
theme and design. Also they all have very little text comapred to
images as people remember images more than they do text.
TARGET AUDIENCE
LEARNT + INSPIRATIONAL
• From this research I have done on Of Monsters And Men, I have found out that they
use social media to their advantage by using them as advertising their latest album.
This is an inspirational idea as we could set up social network pages on our music
video getting friends and families to share it to others making us become well
known. From this reasearch I have also leaned that I should link everything togethter
with the same font, colour, design, images etc.
