What is an audience?
• An individual or collective group of people
who read or consume any media text.
• Examples : Radio listeners, Television
viewers, newspaper and magazine readers.
Audience Expectation of Genre
Generally, the audience expect the following from our chosen
genre:
• Gore
• Blood
• Tension
• Enigmas‘
• Jump scares
• Character or characters are introduced
Audience Expectation of opening sequence and genre
Generally, the audience expect the following in horror opening
sequences:
• Dark location
• Blood
• Gore
• Character or characters are introduced
• Dark music
• Tension
Institution: Blockbuster or Independent?
- We were mostly inspired by blockbuster films such as :
• World War Z
• Dawn of the Dead
• Resident Evil
• Zombie Land
- Our opening sequence would be a blockbuster film because many zombie
blockbuster movies have had success and their is a large audience who enjoy
zombie movies.
- The movie would be released globally because we would like our product to be seen
and interpreted by a variety of people. Furthermore, to prevent private copies.
- Exhibition: Because the film would be a horror film it would therefore be exhibited in
the following ways:
• Cinemas
• DVDs
• Amazon Lovefilm
Mass or Niche?
It is targeted at a mass audience because:
• There is a lot of people who enjoy zombie films which effects how much
profit is earned.
• Our work is shown to more people.
• Below the line marketing is easier to promote the film.
